love life and triumph

its been a couple of weeks but hey, im back.

so who the hell was at poxegen there over the weekend? myself and the tetric crew decided to grace the 80,000 person riot, and holy crap wasnt the fashion sense amazing! i am certanly heading to my nearest sports store to pick up the latest gaa kit so all the ladies will swoon over my cider drenched thick ankled body.

enough of that moaning, there was some seriously good performances there over the weekend. some fine dj sets from the likes of koze, mstrkrft, burns, kosheen, japanese popstars and cral craig. but standing out in my opinion was the performances of aphex twin (surprise surprise) and pendulum live. richard d james stunned the audience with his first show on these shores since 1999. and pendulum had everyone in the green room going insane with the live version of all their tracks.
on the bad note of the festival music wise, the sound on the o2 stage was utter shite, and although the chemical bros were exceptional, the sound was muck. also the crookers missing their flight left a few thousand fans quite unhappy, sort it boys.

so in other news! who was in the button factory there last night for the launch night of tetric? what a night!
some amazing performances from drag queen bingo, dave salacious, the arcs (big headed or what) and a blinder from deadbots! seriously good fun while keeping our clothes on. dont forget to try swing by next wednesday 23rd for more of the same stuff this time with sets from the arcs, ry and gavxmas.

now for some free as fuck music!!!

this artist is a nice minimal, dark and glitchy artist known as style of eye. quality stuff altogether!

style of eye- girls

next up is aremix that the darg queen boys dropped last night at tetric, its one of those tracks that get people charging to the floor in a second!

village people- YMCA (DLake electro rmx)

and lastly as recommended by deadbots themselves its hey today! all the way from germany.

hey today!- walk through

so now i go back to trying to wash the crap, mud and bad burgers off my body and try and blank some of the accents that my poor ears had to put up with from punchestown.

dont do anything i wouldnt

three stowaways

so oxegen ruled.

a bold antics posse made the trip down - many for three days, the brave souls. i think i am happiest at festivals. the slump set in yesterday.

however, thankfully and sprightly an admirable gesture was made by many of the weekend's acts by announcing autumn/winter shows in this very city.

british sea power - the academy - september 29th (a hardly surprising highlight for me)
black kids - the academy - october 21st (eh...dance! dance! dance! dance!)
mgmt - the academy - 3rd november (keep away from the tent stacks, kiddos)

i have an inkling that raconteurs, ben folds and vampire weekend may follow suit. that'd be nice, wouldn't it?

partyshank at antics tonight! go have your ears blown off and your limbs maimed - there will be cameras.

antics loves you!

Frantics @ The Shaw

oi oi

for those of you who aren't familiar with frantics let's give you a brief introduction.
before the madnees ensues at antics, we at bodytonic music like to do something more relaxed in the george bernard shaw just around the corner.

from 8pm antics dj's spark & jay bang out the best in new and alternative indie that we probably wouldn't get away with at antics.

think
deerhunter // no age // times new viking // jay reatard // dan deacon
crystal castles // evangelicals // wolf parade // a sunny day in glasgow
fuck buttons // atlas sound // a aplace to bury strangers

better still we bring you the best in new irish music, with a band playing live almost every wednesday

in the last few months we have brought you
the minutes // autumn owls // the mighty stef // zealots // david kitt
warlords of pez // midge // kill city defectors // redreck // animal channel
the funeral suits // the parks // the butterfly explosion // new amusement
le galaxie // stagger lee // dark room notes // grand pocket orchestra // distractors

the best part of all??
its free in

every single wednesday. its completely free in.
loadsa cheap garlge too. all shots are €3 and pitchers of castlemaine are a tenner.

lost on yer merry way

club nme launch!

button factory!

july 14th!

headline on the night is cadence weapon with support from the wonderous super extra bonus party!

this is gonna be a weekly night and entry is €5/8 on the door depending on how fashionably late (read:well oiled) you wanna be!

think a 22 year old cooler than Kanye with enough style to tour with final fantasy. ye-ah!

in other news, this year's lovebox day-long festival just doesn't seem to stand up to the quality of last year- both on a basis of calibre of performers (last year's headliners:super furry animals, the rapture, jape, groove armada; this year: maximo park, ehhh...paolo nutini...) or the venue (last year:malahide .vs. the drabness of marlay park this year).

saying that, i'll most probably roll along for more "free" bacardi on august 23rd - early ticket price €49.20

love life and triumph (arcs of triumph @ antics blog)

good morning, afternoon or evening,

this is our first post on the antics blog from the arcs of triumph. we'll be talking all things electronic, your microwave may even turn up in this if it makes a decent sound.
for those who have no idea who we are hit up our myspace @
www.myspace.com/thearcsoftriumph

or if bebo is your thing
www.bebo.com/thearcsoftriumph

we'll be posting a podcast right here and on our myspace & bebo pages from (hopefully) next week. this will have various ramblings about what's going on in electronic music in dublin and it will feature exclusive tracks and mixes from dublins up and coming and already established dj's and producers.

so on to our first recommendation!

we have the honour of having the dirty bassline driven insanity of pirate soundsystem down at tetric on the 3rd of july.
these two chaps from london have been causing a stir in clubs in the uk. they seem to be churning out dj sets hooked on every popular sound coming out of london at the moment. think rave reggae, dubstep, grime, breakbeat, and that's only the tip of the iceberg!

they have a remix list that reads like an honour roll too. remixing for such artists as bonde do role, shitdisco & hadouken!

for a taste of pirate soundsystems noise follow the links below and turn up your bass

pirate soundsystem- loves hit

pirate soundsystem- scream if you wanna go rasta

wiley- wearing my rolex(pirate soundsystem rmx)

this week at tetric in the hub we have 3 of dublins finest acts down spinning the good stuff!

first up we have the four lads with a keen taste for rum, of course its drag queen bingo
then we have the trashed resident in the form of gavxmas
and to top off the line up we have the vinyl genius of jamie clarke!

so if you're about this thursday pop down to the hub and have a dance, sure its only a fiver in and we have tons of cheap drink!

tetric myspace

anyone knocking about this friday can catch us playing in mc gruders too supporting brian taaffe!

so thats it from us! next week we'll hopefully have the podcast up and running and i hope you enjoyed reading this because while i was typing i burnt my toasted cheese sandwich and now im quite peeved.....
