forbidden cocktails all round

while dancing my socks off last night and making up words to all the songs I didn’t know, I thought how much fun it would be to live my life in a strobe light.

well, not so much if I had epilepsy…

but there’s something about the jerky flashing of the light that gives me a drunken giddy feeling that makes me smile. and when everything starts to move in real time again, i’m slightly disappointed.

kinda like the feeling i get when listening to culture prophet’s remix of cof cof’s dirty tricks or we have band’s oh!

strobe lighting is probably the best thing about country nightclubs: a nifty trick used by the crappy djs that can’t seem to get the hang of making a smooth transition between their equally crappy songs.

when they start to lose the crowd, they just flick a switch and everyone goes mad again.

but back to cof cof.

this spanish duo, with their synthy dance pop, are just so much FUN.

their debut “who said party?” is available for free download on their myspace (www. myspace. com/cuadralogica), just one in a long list of reasons to love them.

another being the fact that they list “beer before making music” as their influence, something that's clear from their lyrics.

forbidden cocktail is a typical night for... oooh, just about everyone I know.

And doesn't caribbean boy's "i think i drunk too much but this thing must be love" sound oddly familiar?

love life and triumph

its been a couple of weeks but hey, im back.

so who the hell was at poxegen there over the weekend? myself and the tetric crew decided to grace the 80,000 person riot, and holy crap wasnt the fashion sense amazing! i am certanly heading to my nearest sports store to pick up the latest gaa kit so all the ladies will swoon over my cider drenched thick ankled body.

enough of that moaning, there was some seriously good performances there over the weekend. some fine dj sets from the likes of koze, mstrkrft, burns, kosheen, japanese popstars and cral craig. but standing out in my opinion was the performances of aphex twin (surprise surprise) and pendulum live. richard d james stunned the audience with his first show on these shores since 1999. and pendulum had everyone in the green room going insane with the live version of all their tracks.
on the bad note of the festival music wise, the sound on the o2 stage was utter shite, and although the chemical bros were exceptional, the sound was muck. also the crookers missing their flight left a few thousand fans quite unhappy, sort it boys.

so in other news! who was in the button factory there last night for the launch night of tetric? what a night!
some amazing performances from drag queen bingo, dave salacious, the arcs (big headed or what) and a blinder from deadbots! seriously good fun while keeping our clothes on. dont forget to try swing by next wednesday 23rd for more of the same stuff this time with sets from the arcs, ry and gavxmas.

now for some free as fuck music!!!

this artist is a nice minimal, dark and glitchy artist known as style of eye. quality stuff altogether!

style of eye- girls

next up is aremix that the darg queen boys dropped last night at tetric, its one of those tracks that get people charging to the floor in a second!

village people- YMCA (DLake electro rmx)

and lastly as recommended by deadbots themselves its hey today! all the way from germany.

hey today!- walk through

so now i go back to trying to wash the crap, mud and bad burgers off my body and try and blank some of the accents that my poor ears had to put up with from punchestown.

dont do anything i wouldnt

three stowaways

so oxegen ruled.

a bold antics posse made the trip down - many for three days, the brave souls. i think i am happiest at festivals. the slump set in yesterday.

however, thankfully and sprightly an admirable gesture was made by many of the weekend's acts by announcing autumn/winter shows in this very city.

british sea power - the academy - september 29th (a hardly surprising highlight for me)
black kids - the academy - october 21st (eh...dance! dance! dance! dance!)
mgmt - the academy - 3rd november (keep away from the tent stacks, kiddos)

i have an inkling that raconteurs, ben folds and vampire weekend may follow suit. that'd be nice, wouldn't it?

partyshank at antics tonight! go have your ears blown off and your limbs maimed - there will be cameras.

antics loves you!
